| What you provide your chin to chew on is very important... On a daily basis it needs: a lava stone, hay, pine chew sticks, and food ... For it's teeth ... to keep them worn down to the proper size ... For nutrition ... for healthy growth ... For digestion ... to properly digesting it's food ... For enjoyment ... They seem to enjoy chewing ... On Everything ... they can get their little mouths on ... Healthy or Otherwise ... So ... Please, keep away from them those things that are not healthy for them ... Nuts... Their system is not made to digest them. Nuts will eventually cause a fatty liver. A fatty liver can kill. Meat ... Chinchillas are vegetarians, their system will not digest meat. This can cause a blockage and ... kill your chin in less than 24 hours. Cleaning supplies ... These will kill a chin, as it can a human. Plastics ... will not disolve and will damage the digestive tract ... Pressed wood ... often contains toxic glues ... Soft Metals ... they can chew through a 1/4" aluminum rod ... Electric Wire ... No Crispy Critters, Please! And these are only a few ... Please, protect your chin! |
