Raven ...
Our 2nd Great Dane
("One Dane just isn't enough!")
When do you want a second 100+ pound dog?   When the first one needs
someone to play with and you have enough room for both.  Double the fun!

Lady will be 3 years old June 15th and is a bit much for our 12 year-old
Pomeranian, Buster.  So, we started looking for another Great Dane Puppy.

After about five months of looking, I was about to give-up completely.
Then, on January 21st, one add caught my eye.  Ten beautiful little blues
would be ready to go that weekend.   I called.   When Kit, the owner of
Biblical Danes, answered, he could not stay on the line long.  One of the
females was in the process of giving birth to her first pup in a litter.  It was
a black female with a touch of white on her chest ... Lady's same coloring
and markings (even to the white toes on the hind feet).   The female giving
birth (the mom of this pup) was Hannah, that was Lady's mother's name,
also ... but, Lady's mom was a Harlequin, not a brindle, like this one.   What
a coincidence!   How many times do you call exactly when a little one is
being born?  The same color you are looking for?  The same sex and the
mom's name is the same as the Dane's mom you already have?  To much of
a coincidence?  We had to go take a look at this little  puppy!

Four days later, and about 125 miles each way, we got to see what would
become, our second Great Dane.   She weighed in at 1 pound and 2 ounces
... such a little thing, "the smallest one I've ever seen born", said Kit.  When I
held her, she snuggled up in a little ball in the palms of my hands and
quickly fell asleep.  Her name would be Raven, to honor one of my best
homo ebony chinchillas, that now lives with good friends of ours.   She only
had one sibling ... a brother, color and markings very similar ... he weighed
2 pounds and 4 ounces, twice his sister's size.

We went down again when she was four weeks old.   At four weeks, she
weighed 6 pounds and her brother only weighed 4 and a half pounds.  She
definitely had not lost out on any feedings!

Raven                     Raven & her brother.             Raven's brother.

At 6 weeks old, she weighed 10 pounds.
If she would sit still long enough ...
I think you could watch her growing!
