Cover-Chin for the August - September Issue of the On-Line Chinchilla Club Magazine
|
Hi! My name is Jamie. I have a sister named Janice. We were born on April 29th this year and we are both violet chins. We live in a chinchilla community with a lot of other chins in a place called Luv 'N Chins (that's in Virginia).
My Daddy is Little Buster, named after a special little dog that plays with us. Daddy is a Standard Gray/Violet Carrier and came from Circle M in North Carolina. My Momma is Juliet, a violet chin, just like us. She came from Northern Virginia. They just left on their second honeymoon. (hehehe) Momma didn't feel very good after we were born, so Daddy decided to take her on vacation after she got to feeling better. :) Momma didn't feel good because we ... well ... that's a whole 'nother story you can read about in another article this month. They did send us a picture ... see!

Anyway, when Momma got sick, Momma Eileen sent her boys to live with their
daddy and took over raising us. She fed us, kept us warm, made sure we stayed nice
and clean. She would sing us to sleep while we snuggled under her. She's nice like
that. When we were ten days old she even taught us how to take a dust bath! (Bath
time is the only time we can make a big mess playing and not get fussed at!) She
taught us how to touch the sipper on the water bottle and lick our paws clean ... and
how to wash our face and whiskers. We like to stay clean! Chinchillas are like that.
She lets us crawl all over her ... sit on her head when she is trying to eat ... or on
her back when she is trying to rest and never fusses at us about it. She'll even let us
get water first, every morning, when the new water bottle is filled with fresh cool
water. She does get a little fussy when one of us wants to sit in the food bowl while she
is trying to eat ... I don't know why, but she does. But, she will let us play in it when
she is finished. :) It has good stuff in it ... green stuff that is just the right size to hold
in our paws ... it tastes good, too ... but her milk tastes better! We get stuff called hay
every day, too ... that's almost as good as her milk ... almost.
Granny Jo (that's the lady that makes sure we have fresh food, hay and water and
plays with us every day) got us all cleaned up for a family portrait. Momma Eileen
said if we stayed nice and cleaned and didn't muss our fur she would let us have a
snack and take us to play "Hide and Seek" after the family portrait was done.
Granny Jo got a picture of that, too! See our pictures below!

We had lots of fun playing "Hide and Seek" ... we hid behind a hut ... when
Momma Eileen came close ... we ran as fast as we could to 'home plate' ... she didn't
catch us ... so she had to be "it" again. (hehehe) After we played for a while we got
tired ... like I am getting now. (Sigh) I hope you play with your little ones, too. It's lots
of fun, but I'm too tired to play now. Good Night! Time to go night-night. (zzz)
PS: Thank-you Momma Eileen, for taking care of us and letting our Momma get well
faster!
